Osteoarticular Treatments

Specialized treatments for joints and bones

Osteoarticular treatments

General Information

Osteoarticular treatments include various therapeutic interventions targeting joints, tendons, ligaments, and related structures. These treatments can be conservative, such as infiltrations, or innovative, such as PRP therapy.

At CuigniezRx, we offer a wide range of treatments depending on the specific condition and the needs of the patient. Our treatments are performed with the most modern techniques and materials.

For many of our treatments, we work with biocompatible therapy such as hyaluronic acid or PRP (autologous platelets). These treatments can offer an alternative to conventional steroids and painkillers.

New: ARTHROSAMID for Knee Arthritis

ARTHROSAMID is a revolutionary, long-lasting injection treatment for knee osteoarthritis. Non-surgical, with proven results for pain relief and mobility.

Infiltrations

Various types of infiltrations for joint treatments

  • Intra-articular: Medrol, Albicort, Xylocaine
  • Lumbar FACET infiltrations: Usually L4-L5-S1 on the side of the pain. Albicort
  • Intra- and peritendinous under ultrasound guidance: steroids, Xylo, etc. (e.g., De Quervain)
  • Plantar fascia infiltrations, peri-ligamentous steroid infiltrations

Shoulder Treatments

Specific treatments for shoulder pain and injuries

  • Subacromial bursa injection with depot-steroid (DS), or hyaluronic acid
  • Gleno-humeral: test injection with DS, and with favorable result hyaluronic acid (3 x with one week interval)
  • Acromio-clavicular: DS, possibly hyaluronic acid
  • PSH: fragmenting, aspirating and rinsing calcifications in rotator cuff or greater trochanter

PRP Treatment

Platelet Rich Plasma treatment for natural recovery

  • Autologous platelet concentrate injections
  • Small amount of blood is drawn and centrifuged
  • Platelets contain 'granules' with growth factors
  • Effective for tendon lesions, inflammation of the Achilles tendon and knee tendon
  • Cost: 150 euros material cost

Other Treatments

Other therapeutic interventions and treatments

  • Test injections, for example in the hip: xylocaine + Medrol
  • Evacuations of hematomas: Recent or re-puncturable after 3-5 weeks
  • Small joints: elbow, thumb base, PIP and DIP, midfoot, big toe, etc.
  • In case of recurrence: tunneling with burinage (with or without PRP)

Medication Requirements

Important: Bring Medication

Patients must bring their own product for cortisone treatments.

For most treatments:
1 ampoule DEPOT-MEDROL 40 mg/1 ml to bring
For FACET INFILTRATIONS:
1 ampoule 5 ml Kenacort-A 10 mg/ml to bring

PRP Treatment in Detail

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is blood plasma with a rich concentration of platelets. Autologous (from the patient's own body) PRP can be used for the treatment of tendon lesions, including acute or chronic tendon inflammation (e.g., tennis elbow, inflammation of the Achilles tendon and knee tendon) and small to medium-sized tears in those tendons.

PRP can also be used for mild to moderate arthritis (joint wear) of e.g., knee, hip, shoulder. Often used together with hyaluronic acid injection in the same procedure.

How does a PRP treatment work?

A small amount of blood (20 cc) is drawn and centrifuged. During centrifugation, the different blood components are separated and the platelets are selectively isolated from the patient's own blood. The platelets contain 'granules' with active substances, better known as growth factors.

Cost

The PRP treatment costs 150 euros in material costs. This amount is entirely at the expense of the patient, as there is no reimbursement from health insurance.
